Portfolio Prep: Gather Your Very Best Artwork

After you've gotten your bio and photo together, it's time to gather your very best artwork. This may seem obvious, but let me break it down for you.
When deciding which of your illustrations, designs or patterns to include in your portfolio, you may be tempted to include every piece you’ve ever made. But my advice is to think about which ones you feel are the strongest, and which ones are a good representation of your signature style.
A signature style is when your work has a consistency that allows someone to identify it as yours without seeing your name attached. This consistency is something that will make your work stand out from the crowd.
Don’t include work that you don’t want to create more of. And don’t include old artwork that doesn’t represent your style anymore “just in case.” A curated presentation is a stronger presentation. Less is more.
