The very first step you can take with your portfolio

The Very First Step
Today it's time to talk about the very first step you can take toward putting your beautiful portfolio together. And that is...
Take a nice photo of yourself and write a short bio.
The first thing an art director sees when they open up your portfolio should be your face smiling at them. It doesn't have to be professionally taken. Have a friend with a nice phone go outside and take one in natural light and you will probably get something pretty decent. Or you could be at your desk with your art supplies. The important thing is that it is well lit and good quality.
And now about your bio. Art directors don't have time to read your whole life story. They are mostly interested in your artwork, so don't overwhelm them here. Just include a few sentences about yourself, enough that they can feel a bit connected to you, and your client list if you have one.
That's not too hard right? You can do this! Go gather these two things and you will be well on your way to a successful portfolio!
