Try to reframe it like this: 

Finding your signature style doesn't have to be constricting, it can be expansive. Most of us are unconsciously emulating what we see on Instagram or Pinterest, instead of getting in touch with the art that's actually inside us. Once you do get in touch with that, you have a bottomless well of inspiration to pull from.

This isn't about saying no to the styles you love. It's about saying yes to you. Quiet the voices telling you what's trendy, what's marketable, what other people want you to make, and get in touch with the art you actually want to make. It becomes cohesive naturally, the more it becomes about you and less about what you've been looking at or learning from. 

You'll know because you're delighted by the art you're making, and it comes out easily. Other people will notice, too. They'll look at your work and say, "I recognize this. This is your art."

You won't, because you're not stuck. You're not saying no to anything. You're following the spark, following whatever is lighting you up in that moment. That's the opposite of boredom.

Absolutely. You don't have to commit to one medium forever. Plenty of artists work across several, and it's still unmistakably them underneath it all.

For example right now, I use Procreate, crayons and markers.

I used to think the exact same thing. I'd see other artists with a creative voice that felt strong and appealing, and assumed I must not have one of my own. I really thought I wasn't talented enough to call myself an artist.

Eventually, I found a way to pull mine out. And now I'm working on children's books for publishers and have art on products for companies like Target, Hello Bello, and Little Sleepies. All because I found a way to make art that actually looks like me. When you find it, it's so rewarding, and so worth the search!
